The Hub focuses on one core challenge:

There are not enough investment-ready opportunities in the blue economy.

We address this through two entry points:

For Companies and Projects

We help businesses become investment-ready and access financing:

  • strengthen financial readiness
  • structure investment opportunities
  • connect with financiers

Profile of companies/projects we work with

We typically work with:

  • Operating companies or advanced projects
  • Companies with at least a legal registration, business plan, financial statements (preferably audited) demonstrating existing minimum annual revenue of X [EUR 100,000 over the last 24 months]
  • Projects with at least an established legal entity, secured site, completed technical pre-feasibility study and identified needed permits
  • opportunities with clear growth or scaling potential
  • opportunities with defined capital needs. Grant-only seekers are not considered
  • Location: The investment sought support on must be deployed in a business or a project located in the following Western Indian Ocean countries: Comoros · Kenya · Djibouti · Madagascar · Mauritius · Mozambique · Seychelles · Somalia · Tanzania

For Financial Institutions and Investors

We connect investors with structured opportunities in the blue economy:

  • access bankable pipeline
  • align opportunities with investment criteria
  • support structuring and closing transactions

What to expext

The Hub does not act as a financing institution. It works alongside financial partners to facilitate investment. Financial institutions can expect:

  • early visibility on emerging opportunities
  • support in shaping investable transactions
  • collaboration on approaches to unlock investment

 

How we link to the EU Global Gateway Investment Hub

The Hub contributes to the European Union’s Global Gateway strategy by strengthening the pipeline of investment-ready opportunities in the blue economy. It supports the preparation and structuring of companies and projects and facilitates engagement with financial institutions, including those active under the Global Gateway Investment Hub.

The Hub works in coordination with Team Europe partners and EU headquarters to support the visibility and connection of relevant opportunities to Global Gateway processes.
